I became a vegan over 6 years ago. My daughters brought me to an animal sanctuary for a Mother's Day brunch they were having. I already was leaning towards veganism at that point, but wasn't fully committed. I enjoyed all the vegan food, but thought it may be too hard to maintain this lifestyle.
As I looked around and was greeted by all the beautiful animals that were rescued...I looked and saw a poster nailed to a poll that had pictures of the farm animals that were there and it read:
"Please don't let your stomach be our graveyard".
It really hit me hard.
The thought of that grossed me out and made me feel so sad for those animals. I knew at that point that I didn't want any part of ever consuming an animal or animal products again. This changed me forever.
I feel healthier than I ever have, and know that I'm doing the right thing buy not contributing to any animals suffering for my benefit. I love being vegan, and try and help others to also learn this amazing healthy and ethical lifestyle.
